“Brave the Shave” is a name given to people who are crazy enough to believe that shaving their heads will one day find a cure for cancer.
Steve Jobs, in a famous video, describes “The Crazy Ones”:
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently. … They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
On April 30th, Manawa co-founders, Matthew Held and Carmine Tiano participated in a “Brave the Shave” event to raise funds for childhood cancer research in Canada. The partner organizations are IT4ChildhoodCancer, St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Childhood Cancer Canada.
Two of the many heroes from the event were SuperGirl Jadyn Schill and Olympic Champion, Brian Price. Jadyn shared her inspiring story and fight to beat cancer as did Price, also a childhood cancer survivor.
Manawa is proud to participate in the 2015 “Brave The Shave” fundraising event to raise money for kids with cancer. Manawa will be match all donations made on their donation page. If you feel strongly about solving this terrible disease, please take a moment to donate here.
We wanted to highlight before and after photos of the event with close-up photos of Matthew Held and Carmine Tiano. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Their expressions tell the story.
